Short passing
Impacts: keep ball, opponents expend energy pressing, open up gaps, goal scoring opportunities
Dribbling
Impacts: progressed the ball up the pitch, advantageous position, build offensive pressure, build momentum, increase the likelihood of defensive mistakes
Long shooting
Impacts: wasted a good opportunity, gave possession back, own teams performance to decrease as they are now chasing the ball and wasting energy
Standing tackle
Impacts: opponents run past him, take him out the game, dangerous scenario attacking, overload situations to enhance chances of winning
Which pass to make
Impacts: keep control of the game, build up to create chances directly or indirectly, can dictate the rhythm of play, potentially create more goal-scoring opportunities.
Awareness of rules and regulations and their applications
Impacts: no unneeded pressure, no larger risk of conceding, keep themselves in game
Where to dribble
Impacts: dragged opposing players out, gaps created to exploit, greater likelihood of creating chances and scoring
Where to tackle
Impacts: defend without CDM, defence vulnerable, concede good chance, loss chance of counters
When to shoot
Impacts: lost possession, other team begin to build out giving them more control, upper hand on chance creation and possession
Cardiovascular endurance
Impacts: no fatigue, stay on for full game, sustain high levels, can constantly rely, help towards the goal of winning the game
Power
Impacts: ball travel far at speed, help transition the ball early with long passes or diagonals, to turn the defence around on the counter attack
Strength endurance
Impacts: sustain performance levels, continue to complete sprints tackles and passes, gain an advantage as other players tire and their levels drop.
Agility
Impacts: could not react to opponents dribbling, couldn’t shift quickly enough, getting past, run towards goal.
