Very redemptive place throughout Scriptures:

Q

What is the significance of the cup?

A

Jesus is identifying his death as the fulfillment of the new covenant promises in Jeremiah. This is the cup of wrath (Isaiah 51:17) that Israel had been waiting to pour out on God’s enemies and instead God’s son takes it.
