Lesson 9: Principles Of Learning And Behaviour Modification. Flashcards
Theme: Behavourist view
All behaviour is learnt through systems of association.
Systems of reinforcement or punishment.
3 types of learning: classical conditioning, operant conditioning and cognitive learning.
Behaviours are a result of experience. Some are reflexive aka instinctual.
All behaviour is ADAPTIVE.
Adaptive behaviours allow us to adapt to our environment.
Classical conditioning
Before: before you learn any behaviours so before you are conditioned (US AND UR)
During: period where the behaviour training takes place. (NS)
After: period that exists once the behaviour training is complete.
(CR AND CS)
Conditioning PRINCIPLES
Unconditioned stimulus (US)
Unconditioned response (UR)
Neutral stimulus (NS)
Conditioned stimulus (CS)
Conditioned response (CR)
Reinforcement: Increase or Encourage behaviour
Positive reinforcement- add something - increases likelihood of behaviour being repeated.
Negative- take something away.
Punishment: decrease or discourage behaviour
Decreases likelihood of behaviour being repeated.
Positive add something
Negative Take something away
Classical Conditioning extra
Before conditioning
US = UR
Treat = yummy
NS = Huh? What do you want Hooman.
During:
NS+US =UR
Command(sit) + treat = action cause it’s good
After:
CS=CR
Instruction given: sit = dog sits on command.
