numbers multiplied together to equal other numbers
prime number
a number greater than 1 that can only be evenly divided by itself or 1
prime factorization
dividing a number into prime factors that when multiplied together equal the original number
prime numbers
Each number has its unique set of prime factors. The product of these factors is the original number. The first few prime factors are 2, 3, 5, 7,… Notice that each can be evenly divided by only 1 and itself.
LCM and GCF
To find either the least common multiple (LCM) or greatest common factor (GCF) of two numbers, you start out the same way: by finding their prime factors.
The Zero Property of Multiplication
The product of any number and 0 is 0.
The Identity Property of Multiplication
The product of any number and 1 is the original number.
The Additive Inverse Property
The sum of a number and the opposite of the number is 0.
