This is a statement that can be proven objectively by direct experiences, testimonies of witnesses, verified observations, or the results of research.
FACT
Statement that can be verified by reference to historical precedent, laws, rules, usage, and customs.
CONVENTION
It is based on facts but is difficult to objectively verify because of the uncertainty of producing satisfactory proofs of soundness.
OPINION
It is based on personal choice; therefore, they are subjective and cannot be objectively proven or logically attacked.
PREFERENCE
It is a statement about something, and it can be factual or a judgment. It is the debatable point of the writer in the text such as details, explanations, and other types of evidence.
CLAIM
It is a statement or can be assertion of something that has existed (past), existing (present) or will exist (future).
CLAIM OF FACT
It is a judgement whether it is good or bad, more or less, and desirable or not. It is claiming whether something is good, or the other thing is better than the other one.
CLAIM OF VALUE
It is something that should or should not be done. The key word is the verb “should”, which implies that some actions are ought to be taken, or it is a must or will be taken.
