Getting to court
Laying of information
either arrest suspect, give notice for court date or a summons (written by justice of the peace
judicial interim release: describes the release of an individual charged with a crime by a judge or justice of the peace pending a court appearance
jury
peremptory charge: no reason, lawyer just says i don’t want said person in the jury (no longer exists)
challenge for cause: gves a reason. Common reason is bias due to pre court media coverage. Some steps to avoid this are
continuance: postponing court date
voir dire: judge talks to jurrors (might not work)
charge to jury: ask the juries to follow a set of instructions ie to ignore pre trail evidence
Jury Deliberation
Change of Venue: move to place where jurrors are less likely to be familiar with the case
