What was the battle of Vimy Ridge?
The battle of Vimy Ridge was a battle that started with the French and British against the Germans, attempting to take control of the ridge from them. The French and British failed in their objective and so, it was time for the Canadians to step in. The Canadian’s went in, timing each step they took carefully, sending 30,000 troops and attacking each German line with heavy artillery before finally reaching the pimple (the northern tip of the ridge defended by Prussian guards) and took it over with heavy artillery and hand-to-hand combat, thus successfully taking over the ridge.

The battle was crucial in Canada’s recognition by other nations for their army’s calculative and successful work despite their allies (Britain and France) previous failures.
