Premote international co-operation to ease trade by getting rid of tariffs

Allows bargaining, trading routes. (Europe and US)

Long decision making process eg Pakistan floods could have been prevented
What is the World Banks role?
A bank to finance development.
Problems with the World Bank?
EU almost have 50% of votes
What influence does the World Bank have?
Helped with post WW2 reconstruction in France and Japan. Worry in Japan that USSR would take over

Stabilise currencies after 1930s depression and WW2

Forced Bolvia’s government to sell/privatise water supplies, US water company bought it made prices unaffordable

What is the United Nations (UN)?
Promote peace and cooperation

Security council has been criticised for not taking forceful action
