Lesson 6 Flashcards
Can you explain why the moon has phases?
As it circles the Earth, we are able to see different parts of the daytime side of the Moon.
What is a lunar eclipse?
When the Earth gets right in between the sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the Moon.
What is the atmosphere like on the moon?
There is no atmosphere.
What is the color of the moon’s sky during its daytime?
Black
How does the Moon affect Earth’s oceans? Why is that helpful to Earth?
It pulls on the ocean, causing the ocean’s tides. Tides cleanse the shore and keep the ocean from being stagnant (staying still and getting yucky).
Why are there footprints likely visible on the Moon?
Because there is no wind or rain to wipe them away.
