an individual traces his/her kinship through the male’s line only

it leads an individual to trace kinship relations through the female line
Matrilineal Descent
This means that an individual can recognize both his/her parents’ relatives as his/her own relatives
Bilateral Descent
Types of Kinship
•Consanguineal Kinship or Kinship Based on blood (kadugo)
•Affinal Kinship or Kinship based on marriage
it is considered the most basic and general form of relations, can be achieved by birth or blood affinity

defined as the “socially or ritually recognize union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them
