Define the term “Semite.”
A Semite is someone who descends from the line of Shem, a son of Noah in the Old Testament. These people were generally from South-western Asia and included Hebrews, Arabs, Babylonians and Ethiopians.
List some of the rules against Jews.

What does the Shoah mean?
It means “the catastrophe”, in relation to the Holocaust.
What did Nazis use?
• Extermination camps.
• Transit camps.
• Ghettos: Jew-only place blocked in by fences/wooden panels. Segregation.
• Forced labour camps: selected men were chosen to labour, with just enough nourishment to work
• Mass shooting sites.
List the victims of the Holocaust.
• 6 million European Jews murdered. Only Jews were murdered for complete extermination, other enemies such as Sinti/Roma/disabled people/Soviet prisoners of war/Polish elites weren’t as targeted. Using “Holocaust” as a catch-all term for Nazi persecution can obscure the varying groups being targeted. “Shoah” was targeted.
• Roma- 250,000 killed. 23,000 held in Auschwitz.
• Poles- 1.8 million killed, 900,000 died in Nazi camps.
• Soviet Prisoners of War- 3 million died in camps.
• Euthanasia programme for disabled people- 275,000 killed.
• Jehovah witness- Christians who don’t believe in blood transfusion- sometimes do a form of shunning- 2000/2500 held in camps- 1400 killed.
• Homosexuals- Imprisonment between 3 months to 10 years/50,000 men convicted. Between 5-15,000 held in camps.
• Germans of African descent- 500 teenagers.
