Solution - homogeneous mixtures
● Solute - the substance that dissolves, it is also smaller in quantity
● Solvent - the substance which solute dissolves, also greater in quantity
- Aqueous Solutions - solutions in which the solvent is water
- Soluble - the ability to dissolve in another substance
- Insoluble - the inability to dissolve in another substance
- Miscible - where liquids are completely soluble in each other, otherwise,immiscible
Properties of Solutions
● Saturated Solution: contains maximum amount of solute
● Unsaturated Solution (Diluted): there are less solute than solvent
● Supersaturated Solution (Concentrated): there are more solute than solvent
✓Electrolyte - dissolves in water to form a solution that conducts electricity.
✓Non-Electrolyte - dissolves in water to form a solution that does not conductelectricity.
