What steps occurs after a disaster declaration request is made?

A
  1. FEMA Regional Administrator evaluates the damage and requirements for federal assistance and makes a recommendation to the FEMA Administrator.
  2. The FEMA Administrator then recommends a course of action to the President, acting through the Secretary of Homeland Security.
  3. After the Presidential Declaration, the President appoints a Federal Coordinating Officer to execute Stafford Act authorities.
