What is PED?
Product, exploitation, dissemination.
Initial analysis - carried out by the SO or crew/near real time from downlink
Further analysis - carried out by an off board agency and fed back into intelligence cycle
What is PID?
Positive Identification
Targets must be identified by a trained individual, once you lose sight PID has to be regained by a trained individual
What is meant by Pattern of life?
Building a picture of the normal, so the abnormal stands out.
Eg. Times of worship Dinner times Bed times Routes Market opening hours
What is a HLS?
Helicopter landing Site
Look for flat ground
No obstructions
Out of LOS but close to target
What is CAS?
Close Air support
Using LRD/LTM
Weapon or non weapon CAS, provide support for JTAC
What is CDE?
Collateral damage estimate
Help Reduce fracticide/collateral damage
Determine what weapons can get employed to the target
What is a BDA?
Physical damage assessment
Functional damage assessment
Was the desired effect achieved
Was collateral damage avoided
