anarchy
- there is no government
- people do or say anything they wish to anyone

dictatorship
a country where the leader rules with absolute power, usually by force (e.g. North Korea)
constitutional monarchy
a government where the monarchy is limited; the government is usually made up of representatives elected by the people (e.g. Canada)
absolute monarchy
total rule by one monarch (king or queen) who makes all the laws (e.g. Saudi Arabia)
representative (or indirect) democracy OR republic
voters choose representatives to act in their interests (e.g. United States)
direct democracy
all citizens take part in suggesting and making up laws (e.g. ancient Greece)
