What are the three (3) types of writing?
- Narrative
- Argumentative
- Informational
This is the basic structure that writers use in presenting ideas. This may inform through illustrations and anecdotes.
Narrative
This goes beyond giving information, writers use this to let readers understand their side of an argument.
Argumentative
This basically just to develop ideas using techniques to present details and well-chosen sequences.

What is an Objective Narrative?
An object narrative present an objective timeline or details for accuracy
What is a Subjective Narrative?
A subjective narrative presents an insightful point of view, depending on the writer’s feelings

- Objective

Used in explaining unfamiliar terms either to explain or to convince.

What are the four types of definitions?
- Standard Definition
- Regulatory Definition
- Personal Definition
- Invented Definition
What is a standard definition?
For example: Definition of an essay
Universally-accepted and rarely changes
What is a Regulatory Definition?
For example: Classification of typhoon signals as per PAG-ASA
Assigned meanings based on an organisation, regulating body and changes on situations
What is personal definition?
For example: what is a true friend?
This depends on the interpretations of the writer and as experienced by the writer.
What is an invented definition?
For example: “First Blood” in mobile legends
Given meanings to words coined and as used by society.
Used by writers to describe something. These may be an object, a person, place, experience, emotion, situation, event etc.
