Hate Crime Definition
Any crime which is perceived by the victim or any other person, as being motivated (wholly or partly) by malice and ill-will towards a social group

Describe Disability
- A physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long term negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities
- Long term means 12 months or more

- Race describes the physical characteristics of a person
- Ethnicity describes the cultural identity of a person
Racism Definition
Prejudice or discrimination based on race, especially the belief that one race is superior to another
Describe Sexual Orientation
- Used to describe a person’s emotional, romantic and sexual attraction to individuals of a particular gender

What does Racially Aggravated Harassment - Section 50A (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act, 1995 state?
A person is guilty of an offence if they pursue a racially aggravated course of conduct which amounts to harassment of a person an it:
- is intended to amount to harassment of that person, or;
- Occurs in circumstance where it would appear to a reasonable person that it would amount to harassment of that person
