participle
A participle is a verb form that can function as either the main verb in a verb phrase or an adjective modifying a noun or pronoun in a sentence.
perfect tense
The form of a verb that expresses completed action is called the perfect tense. Perfect tenses consist of a form of have as a helping verb and a past participle as a main verb.
present perfect tense
The present perfect tense is used to express an action that happened sometime in the past. The present perfect tense uses the helping verb has or have along with the main verb.
past perfect tense
The past perfect tense expresses action that was completed before another action or event in the past. Use the helping verb had and the past participle of the main verb to create past perfect tense.
future perfect tense
The future perfect tense is used to show that an action will be completed before another action or event in the future or by a certain time. To form the future perfect tense, use the helping verbs will have with the past participle of the main verb.
past progressive form
The past progressive form of verbs describes a past action which was happening when another action occurred. This tense is formed by using the words was and were with the verb form ending in –ing. The words when and while are often used in the sentence with the past progressive forms of verbs.
future progressive form
The future progressive form expresses an ongoing or continuous action that will take place in the future. This tense is formed by using will be or shall be combined with the verb form ending in –ing.
