The early Filipinos

caves for their housing until they learned

Bahay Kubo.
Social Classes in the Barangay
The Maginoo (the noble class) The Timawa (the freemen)
The Alipin (the indentured class)
The Maharlika (the warrior class)

were the ruling class, the educated class, the royal class, and the privileged class. It was from this class that the Datu would come from. The Datu is the leader of the community called a barangay.
The maginoo
They could acquire property, acquire any job they wanted, pick their own wives, and acquire an Alipin. They were however expected to pay taxes and support the Maginoo class. They are the only class to pay taxes.
The Timawa (the freemen)
Unlike the Timawa, they were not expected to pay taxes. They would provide protection to the barangay and were responsible for providing and preparing the weapons at their own expense.
The Maharlika (the warrior class)
Basically they served their master who belonged to one of the classes above them.
The Alipin (the indentured class)
was a servant who lived in their own little house on the property of their master.
Aliping Namamahay
a servant that lived around the house of their master.
Aliping Saguiguilid
the reflection of the life and culture of people in one place.
Traditional music and dance
In music, we have instruments like
kudyapi, kalaleng, a tingguian Nose flute, slit drum.
Some pre-Hispanic songs were called
Kundiman, Kumintang o Tagumpay, Ang Dalit o Imno at Oyayi o Hele.
