Franchise
is a place of business where consumers can purchase food and take it with them to be consumed off-premise. Retail food is basically food obtained through a business transaction with an organization that is not a restaurant.
Food retailers
is a rural or small-town store that carries a general line of merchandise. It carries a broad selection of merchandise, sometimes in a small space, where people from the town and surrounding rural areas come to purchase all their general goods.
General merchandise retailers
is a form of retailing in which a firm sells its products without a physical retail store/space.

Independent retail
appear to be strongest in the food, drug, shoe, variety, and clothing industries. Managed chain stores have a number of advantages over independently managed stores.
