Lesson 15 Flashcards
What are the three types of plate boundaries. In convergent category
Subduction- oceanic-contenintal. Uplifting- contenintal-contenintal this formed mountain ranges such as himalian mountains. Trench Building-oceanic to oceanic. These are all convergent.
What are the three main plate boundaries.
Convergent, the three types, oceanic-contenintal, contenital-contenental-makes mountains, trench building, oceanic-oceanic. Divirgent, which is the mid Atlantic ridge, new rock filling in,and transform-San Andreas fault. Two plates slide past eachother.
How do volcanoes get formed, what form of plate shifting?
Subduction, the ocean-continent, and ocean is thinner, but more dense, so it goes under, and makes the upper mantle get hot, and it gets forced up into the continent lithosphere, and that’s how the magma gets into the mountains being pushed up.
Is the mid Atlantic ridge divergent or convergent?
Divirgent, new rock is filling in because they’re seperating. Convergent is things subducting under eachother.
What can happen when an ocean plate meets an ocean plate?
It can crash together, making new magma, or the lower mantle, come up, and make new land, as the magma will cool and increase.
