“If - Then” clause: Future Conditional
(if), simple past tense, भने, simple Pres./Fut.
If (in the future)-then
( एदी ) म पसलमा गए भने, म उपहार किन्छु
If I go to a store, then I will buy a gift.
In the “If-Then” clause, always use “भ” conjugation for हुनु verb & not “थि”
If-Then with हुनु verb
म मोटो भए भने, exercise गर्छु
If I were fat, I would exercise.
मेरो घर छ .
I have a house.
मेरो घर भयो भने, मलाइ खुसि लाग्छ
If I had a house, I would be happy.
नत्रभने
otherwise
तपाइले plane ticket किन्नुभयो भने म आउछु, नत्रभने आउदिन
If you buy a plane ticket, I will come, otherwise I will not come.
Present Conditional
Pres. tense भने, pres. tense; used with 2nd & 3rd person, not 1st person (use past tense for 1st person: Fut. Cond.
तपाइँ जानुहुन्छ भने, म पनि जान्छु
If you go, (right now), I will go also.
चिया तातो छ भने, नाखानुस
If the tea is hot, please do not drink it.
Fut. Conditional (w/more certainty)
Pres. v.s. + ने भए , pres./fut. tense (used if you are really going to do something)
म restaurantमा जाने भए, तपाइँ मसंग जानुहुन्छा ?
If I go to the restaurant, will you go with me?
तपाइँ नजाने भए, म पनि जादिन
If you do not go, (if you are not going), I also won’t go.
Future Conditional (informal)
Past v.s. + ए (Positive)
न + Past v.s. + ए (Neg.)
