Define “berit.”
A
- equivalent to covenant
- binding relationship between two parties each pledging to perform some service for the other

What is a covenant?
A
- a contractual agreement between two people/parties (common definition)
- signifies the intimate, loving relationship that God established with the Chosen People (religious context)

Moses?
A
- The person whom God chose to bring the message of liberation to the Israelites
- competent servant-leader
- led the people to conversion and repentance
- exemplifies courage, patience, and fidelity

The three coventants?
A
1st: Noah (“never again shall all bodily creatures be destroyed by the waters of a flood…”)
2nd: Abraham (“your descendants will be as numerous as the stars in heaven…”)
3rd: Exodus (“therefore if you hearken My voice and keep My Covenant, you shall be My special possession…”)

Sinai Covenant.
A
- center of Israel’s history
- established Israel as God’s people
- “a kingdom of priests; a holy nation”
- made not for Israel’s sake but for the sake of others
- conditions were the 10 Commandments
- Israel was exalted
- promise of God’s love, care and protection

How do we fulfill our own mission?
A
1) Faithfully adhere to God’s Commandments
2) Make prayer an important part of our lives
3) Nourish your spirit thru the Eucharist

Exodus definiton?
A
- the liberation of the Israelites who were treated as slaves in Egypt
- God freed them thru Moses to prepare them for the covenant He was to forge with them

Define mission.
A
- task of spreading the faith which is given to every follower of Christ.

Define missionary.
A
- priests, brothers, and religious people who were sent to foreign places to preach (in the past)
- applies to all baptized since we are all called to evangelize (at present)

The Ten Commandments?
A
- cannot be seen apart form the covenant
- first three pertain to our relationship with God
- last seven teach us to love others
