A
  • a contractual agreement between two people/parties (common definition)
  • signifies the intimate, loving relationship that God established with the Chosen People (religious context)

1st: Noah (“never again shall all bodily creatures be destroyed by the waters of a flood…”)
2nd: Abraham (“your descendants will be as numerous as the stars in heaven…”)
3rd: Exodus (“therefore if you hearken My voice and keep My Covenant, you shall be My special possession…”)
