Johannine Dualism
i. John is particularly focused on vertical dualism
ii. Difference in emphasis and not exclusion
iii. In Synoptics: Primarily horizontal contrast between the two ages (this age and the age to come; “Kingdom of God” language)
iv. In John: primarily vertical contrast between two worlds (the world above and the world below; the world we live in is corrupt with the devil as the ruler, but Jesus comes from above [3:13; 6:38] to be the light of the world)
