What is conformity?
A change in persons behaviour as a result of real of imagined pressure from a group of people
What is compliance?
When an individuals adjusts their behaviour, views and attitudes they voice in public so that they are in line with majority.
Only lasts when group present
Temporary form
Internalisation
The individual examines them groups behaviour, beliefs and values based on what others say and decides that the majority is correct
Loads them to accepting both in public and in private
More permanent form
Identification
Conform to the group as there is something we value about it.
Moderate form.
Identify with groups because we feel similar to it, therefore change our views to be part of it
Agree in public but not in private
