What is a pure substance?
A single element or compound that has not been mixed with any other substance.
What is a mixture?
Two or more substances that have been mixed together but are not chemically bonded.
What is an alloy?
A mixture of two or more elements, one of which is a metal.
What is a solution?
The product of a solute dissolving in a solvent.
What is a solute?
A substance that dissolves in a solvent.
What is a solvent?
A liquid that dissolves a solvent.
What is a soluble substance?
A substance that can dissolve in a solvent.
What is an insoluble substance?
A substance that can not dissolve in a solvent.
Name the properties of a mixture
The properties of a mixture are: easily separated, the proportions are not fixed and the properties are an average of the substance it is made from.
What does a solute + solvent =?
It makes a solution.
