What is qualitative research?
Qualitative research is:
a. a research that involves the studied use and collection of a variety of empirical materials – case study, personal experience, introspective, life story, interview, observational, historical, international, and visual texts – that describe routine and problematic moments and meanings in individuals lives,
b. deploy a wide range of interconnected methods, hoping always to get a better fix on the subject matter at hand,
c. begins with assumptions and the use of interpretive / theoretical frameworks that inform the study of research problems addressing the meaning individuals or groups ascribe to a social or human problem, and
d. to study this problem, qualitative researchers use an emerging qualitative approach to inquiry, the collection of data in a natural setting sensitive to the people and places under study, and data analysis that is both inductive and deductive and establishes patterns or themes
How did Creswell define qualitative research?
It was defined by Creswell as the final written report or presentation includes the voices of participants, the reflexivity of the researcher, a complex description and interpretation of the problem, and its contribution to the literature or a call for change.
