An organized body of knowledge based on facts, gathered through observations, experiments, and experiences.
Also serve as a basis of developing technology for the benefit of man and environment.
A method of obtaining knowledge through the use of scientific method.
Science
It originated from the Latin term “__?__” which means knowledge.
Scientia
Limitations of Science
> Science can’t answer questions about value.

Branches of Science
- Social Science
- Applied Science

concerned with the society and the relationships among the individuals within the society.
Social Science
is a discipline of science that applies existing scientific knowledge to develop more practical applications, like technology or inventions.
Applied Science
branch of science concerned with the description, prediction, and understanding of natural phenomena, based on observational and empirical evidence.
Natural Science
Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Meteorology, Metallurgy, Etc.
Physical Science
A set of techniques used by the scientific community to investigate natural phenomena.
Scientific Method
Modern Technology and the Greatest Inventions:
Information Technology- television, internet, satellite, GPS, mobile phones
Communication Technology- dvd’s, photographs, printed and electronic magazines or tabloids
Biotechnology and Agricultural Technology- produce new forms of life and produce food, fiber and fuel
Medical Technology- laser, protheses, ultrasounds
Environmental Technology- hybrid vehicles
Production Technology-
manufacture physical goods
Materials Technology- mosquito repellent clothing, artificial skin grafts
Transportation Technology- anything that moves from one place to another
Energy and Power Technology- anything that enables everything to work and function
Nanotechnology- sensors, nanobots, and molecular manufacturing
> Refer to groups of people who interact with each other using the same technology.
> It determines, within the limit of invention, what technology it wants to have.
Society
It is an interdisciplinary course that engages the students to confront the realities brought about by science and technology in society, with all its socio-political, cultural, economic, and philosophical underpinnings at play.
Science, Technology, And Society
In ancient times, people were concerned of the following:
- Transportation and Navigation
