What does HTS stand for?
Highway Transportation System. The goal is to move people and cargo from one place to another in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.
What are the 3 parts to the HTS?
People, Vehicles, Roadways
What is the driving task?
Social - seeing, looking at your surroundings, interacting with people
Physical - the ability to control the vehicle
Mental - making good decisions, focusing on driving
What is the IPDE process
Identify - (see) look for potential problems
Predict - (think) where potential problems may occur
Decide - (think - when, where, how) can you avoid conflict
Execute - (do) the right action
What is the Smith System
Is a organized method designed to help drivers develop good seeing habits
What is the Zone Control System
Is a method for managing space around your vehicle
What is the difference between an ACCIDENT and a COLLISION?
An ACCIDENT is something that happens by chance. A COLLISION is the result of multiple errors.
What are the 3 parts to a collision?
- Vehicle hits an object (another vehicle, tree, person, etc)
- Vehicle occupants hit restraint devices (airbag, windshield, headrest, seat belt, etc.)
- Internal organs hit the inside of the body cavity )this can cause internal bleeding)
How do you know someone is an organ donor?
On their license, you will see a heart.
