LESSON 1 Flashcards
methods emphasize objective measurements and the statistical, mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through polls, questionnaires, and surveys, or by manipulating pre-existing statistical data using computational techniques.
Quantitative research
is one of the most common areas of measurement in applied social research.
Survey research
tests for the relationships between two or more variables.
Correlational Research
is also known as “ex post facto” research, (Latin for “after the fact”). With this type of research, investigators attempt to determine the cause or consequences of differences that already exist between or among groups of individuals.
causal-comparative research
is a systematic and scientific approach to research in which the researcher manipulates one or more variables, and controls and measures any change in other variables.
