Animals and things.

What is a dependent clause?
Because it has a subject and verb, yet cannot stand alone as a sentence.
What is a nonrestrictive clause?
Usually set apart in commas; not necessary to the meaning of a sentence and can be removed without changing the sentence’s meaning; provide information that isn’t essential, but spices things up a bit.
What is a restrictive clause?
Is necessary to the meaning of the sentence and, if removed, would make the sentence’s meaning unclear by taking away important information; commas do not surround restrictive clauses, which helps identify them as restrictive; clarifies information in the sentences; the information they provide is essential.
