Lens Application Flashcards
How do cameras use lenses?
A camera uses a converging lens to create a real image.
What type of image does a camera produce?
A camera produces a real, inverted image when the object is beyond 2F’
What image does a movie projector produce?
Uses a lens to produce an inverted, large real image when the object (film) is between F’ and 2F’. The film is put into the projector upside down so it projects an upright image.
What lenses does a compound microscope use?
Two converging lenses (eyepiece lens and the objective lens)
What images does a compound microscope produce?
One inverted real image (that is larger than the object) that we can’t see and one large, inverted virtual image that we do see.
What types of lenses does a refracting telescope use?
Two converging lenses (eye piece and objective lens)
What image does a refracting telescope produce?
An inverted, real image that we can’t see and a large, inverted, virtual image that we can’t see.
What is the difference between a compound microscope and a refracting telescope?
The object of the refracting telescope is farther beyond 2F’ that the light rays are considered parallel.
