There are 535 members of Congress. There are 435 congressmen/women and 100 senators.
What does bi-cameral mean?
Having two chambers or parts.
What are the three things a president can do to a bill?
A president can pass the bill, veto the bill, or pocket veto the bill.
What is a census, when is it taken, and how is this data used in Congress?
A census is a survey to calculate the number of US citizens, it is taken every ten years and it is used to adjust the number of congressmen/women in the House of Representatives.
What is a pocket veto?
When the president doesn’t respond to a bill within ten days, the bill is automatically approved.
What is the purpose of the Standing and Subcommittees?
Standing Committees are permanent committees that have a certain responsibilities/functions. Subcommittees are committees under Standing committees. They make the subject easier to complete.
After a bill is passed in the House, it then goes where?
The Senate.
Who are lobbyists?
A person who tries to influence legislation on behalf of a special interest.

Powers given to Congress by Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution.
What is a filibuster?
When a senator stalls voting on a bill by talking and using the clock in a legislative meeting.
