What is the animal welfare act?
Nobody is allowed to cause pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm to an animal.
The animal experimentation act overrules this.
When does the animal experimentation act overrule the welfare act?
If the purpose is research, teaching or the production of blood products, then it is allowed if licensed.
What is the animal experimentation order?
It’s a long and detailed info about all the small details about everything, such as animals to breed, how to care etc.
What is injection criterion?
A procedure must be licensed if it causes pain,suffering, distress, harm - equal or more than if an injection

Through AIRD of dyreforsøgstilsynet. Fill out online purpose/hypothesis. Why no alternative to animal use and why it is important
What is the animal welfare body?
They meet 4 times per year in KU, but it differs.
They discuss applications with complex experimentations and how things can improve such as the animal facilities,cages etc.
They do NOT authorize experiments, just refine them to improve them
What are the main tasks of a national committee?
- Give advice to the competent authority (food and veterinary agency)
- Give advice to welfare bodies in dk
- Give input on common procedures
What is animal welfare?
