What is the purpose of the Mental Capacity Act 2005?
To protect and empower individuals who may lack mental capacity to make their own decisions and decide their own care and treatment
What age does the Mental Capacity Act 2005 apply to?
16 and over
How do professionals determine whether someone lacks mental capacity?
Two stage test. Give them a 4 question assessment. If one answer is wrong, they lack mental capacity.

What is the purpose of the Care Act 2014?
To protect vulnerable adults from mistreatment and improve their quality of life

To protect vulnerable children and introduce more rights to children and families
