LEED AP ID+C: Water Efficiency Flashcards
Energy POlicy Act of 1992
Addresses energy and water use in commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. Sets baseline flush rate for water closets (1.6 gpf) and urinals (1.0 gpf)
Required water reduction for WE Prerequisite 1
20%
Points possible for WE Credit 1: Water Use Reduction
30% = 6 35%= 8 40%= 11 (Exemplary Performance = 45%)
WE Credit 1: Water Use Reduction Implimentation
Install low-flow and low-flush fixtures for toilets, urinals, restroom and kitchen faucets, showerheads, janitor sinks, metering faucets, and commercial prerinse valves.
Uniform PLumbing Code or International Plumbing Code (2006)
Sets baseline flow rate for commercial lavatory faucets at .5 gpm at 60 pounds per square inch (psi), except in private applications (private applications-including hotel and hospital patient rooms- 2.2 gpm at 60 psi)
WE Credit 1: List fixtures outside of the scope for water reduction calculations
commercial steam cookers, commercial dishwashers, automatic commercial ice makers, commercial clothes washers, residential clothes washers, standard and compact residential dishwashers.
WE Credit 1: Imperative information for calculations
Manufacturers data for water consumption & usage group (FTE, building occupants by occupancy type)
Water Efficiency: Fitxures and Standards
Showerheads = 2.5 gpm / 80 psi
Public metering lavatory faucets = .25 gp metering cycle
Kitchen and Janitor sink faucets = 2.20 gpm
Metering faucets = .25 gallons per cycle
Low Flow Shower and Sink = 1.8 gpm
