What are the two types of aeroplane classification and what are the differences based on airworthiness classification?

A

Class A and Class B.
The difference between both:
Class A: an aeroplane certificated as a transport category aeroplane and authorised by an Air Operator’s Certificate to be used for ‘commercial purposes.

Class B: Aeroplane other than Class A aeroplanes, i.e., Agricultural, utility and etc.

A

Certificate of Airworthiness is issued by CASA if it meets approved manufacturing standards; conforms to approved design standards; all the appropriate airworthiness standards.

What is a Certificate of Registration (CoR)?

A

Certificate of Registration is issued by CASA for the purpose of establishing and maintaining a register of Australian aeroplanes. VH, followed by a three-letter code is used for Australian registered aircraft.

What is a Flight Manual?

A

A Flight Manual is an airworthiness document approved by Casa and must remain in the aeroplane when operation. It contains the final reference in relation to operating limitations and techniques.

What is a Maintenance Release?

A

A Maintenance Release is an operational document approved by CASA that records the current legal airworthiness status of the aircraft and consists of three parts:

· Part 1: Maintenance release;

· Part 2: recording of all aircraft defects or damage and the corrective action taken to return the aircraft to an airworthy state;

· Part 3: Certification of the daily inspection and recording of the Total Time-in-Service and Time-in-Service for each day’s flying.

What are the three Maintenance Inspection, how often do they need to be done and who does them?

A

· Periodic or general maintenance inspections: completed Annually and/or 100-hourly inspections that are completed by a qualified LAME.

· Daily (Maintenance) inspections: Daily and to be carried out by a LAME or by a licenced pilot prior to the first flight of each day to ensure the aircraft is in a suitable condition for flight.

· Pre-flight inspection: carried out prior to each flight by the pilot about to fly the aircraft.

A
