What are the three components of history questioning?
A
- Animal signalment- breed, age and the neutering status
- Prophylaxis and general husbandry- needs to include vaccinations, travel and medical history, current medical treatments, environmental history
- Current medical history- detail (weight, appetite, drinking, colour, coughing, lameness etc.)- as

How should a dog be approached?
A
a dog should be approached from the side (every single . time) and you should not kneel because if the dog attacks you you have no where to go

What are the lymph nodes that should be felt for (which one’s might you not be able to feel on a healthy animal)?
A
Submandibular, pre-scapular, axillae, inguinal, popliteal (on a healthy dog it may not be possible to feel axillae, inguinal and ps)

What is the purpose of skin tenting?
A
to check the hydration status of the animal

What are the three segments that need to be palpated on abdominal palpation?
A
- Cranio-ventrally (liver, pancreas, stomach and spleen)
- Dorso- cranially (retroperitoneal space in-between the kidneys)
- Mid-abdomen (small intestines, large intestines and spleen)
- Caudal- abdomen (bladder, uterus, colon, prostate)
