for 37kg child

For the 1st 10kg – 100ml/kg/day
For the 2nd 10kg - 50ml/kg/day
Subsequent kg - 20ml/kg/day
For a child of 37kg:
(10 x 100) + (10 x 50) + (17 x 20) = 1840ml day = 76.6ml/hr

How to assess if more IV fluids
A
- Skin turgor
- Crying without tears
- ↓ urine output
Red flags - Tachycardia
- ↓ skin turgor
- sucked eyes
- altered consciousness

% dehydration x weight x 10 = deficit ml
(5/100) x 32 x 1000 = 1600
