what are some of the main characteristics of salmonella enterica
A
- its gram negative, non sporulating, facultative anaerobic motile rods.
- they are mesophillic, optimum growth temperature between 35 degrees celsius and 37 degrees celsius, but generally have a growth range of 5-54 degrees.
- easily killed by pasteurization
- sensitive to pH
- only pathgen directly referred to by name in the canadian food and drugs act
