What is amensalism?
A
An interaction between 2 or more different species in which one is negatively impacted and the other is neither negatively nor positively impacted.

Predation definition.
A
The consumption of one organism (the prey) by another organism (the predator) in which the prey is alive when the predator first attacks.

How can a true predator be classified?
A
True predator:
- kill prey almost immediately
- usually eat whole organism
- eat several or many prey during lifetime
- usually applied to carnivores
eg. lions, eagles, carnivore plants etc.

How can a grazer be classified?
A
Grazers:
- usually do not kill prey
- consume part of the prey organism
- often attack large numbers of prey
- more herbivore grazers
eg. sheep, cattle, locusts

How can a parasite be classified?
A
Parasites:
- usually do not kill prey
- consume part of prey organism (host)
- attack one or small number of prey
- much smaller than prey
- host is habitat and food
- endo- or Ecto-
eg. tapeworms, aphids, measles virus

How can a parasitoid be classified?
A
Parasitoids: - part of life cycle (subadult) is parasitic - usually kill prey eventually - consume all of the host organism - attack one prey - smaller than prey - host is habitat and food - endo- or Ecto- eg.
