Lecture 7 - Factorial analysis of variance : Repeated measures. Flashcards
How do you know if its a 2x2 repeated measures
2 factors, 2 levels, 1 dv, the same participants
What are post hoc tests following a significant interaction called
simple effect tests - must be bonferroni corrected.
What is cohens d
The magnitude of difference between 2 conditions. Which provides an indication of the deviation between the means in standard deviations.
How do you calculate cohens d
mean 1- mean2/ mean sd.
What is partial eta squared
A global magnitude of the difference between groups or conditions. Provides a measure of how much of the variance is accounted for by the treatment effect.
How is partial eta squared calculated
effect/ effect + error
What needs to be changed when finding the descriptive stats?
must click *dependents together
How to conduct a repeated measures anova in spss
- Analyse- general linear model - repeated measures.
- Name the factors
i.e. Factor 1 has 2 levels, factor 2 has 2 levels
Factor 1= drink (the first number)
factor 2 = drug (the second number)
1,1 - alcohol, placebo
1,2- alcohol, coke
2,1- water, placebo
2,2 water, coke
