Lecture 7: Epithelial Tissues Flashcards
Four basic types of tissues?
Epithelial, connective, muscle and nerve
Features of a typical lining
Free surface: lining of epithelium should not be associated with anything, hallow tubes usually
Densely Paced epithelia cells
Basements Membrane: Epithelium w/ CT
Nearby loose CT
Is epithelium Avasculare or vascular
It is avascular but the CT have BV can see the RBC in the image
Notice the Free Surface and the cuboidal shapes
Layers of the Epithelium
See the stratified squamous that transitions in simples squamous
Compare and Contrast Clllia vs MicroVilla
Cilia is messier and arranged by MT used to transport
What is being displayed
Microvilla, composed of actin(making it rigid)
used for ABS
Identify each type of intercellular JXN
TJ: rescrtive seal, combining two adjacent cells
Adherent jxn: anchors the cells to neighboring cells
Desmosomes: Resist Mechanical Stress composed of intermediate filaments
Gap Jxn: channel that allows for communication between cells, NOT IMAGED HERE
Identify the difference between Epithelium and CT what is is called
It has how many sections what are those sections
Basement Membrane
The basal lamina is associated w/ the epithelial side and Reticular Lamina is associated w/ CT side
What is H
Hemidessmosomes” help w/ resist mechanical separation at basement membrane
What is being shown here and what is the difference between them
Serous gland(secrete protein, seriously serous
Mucous gland: secrete mucin, carb rich, stain poorly
What is atypical
Notice the protrusion into the hollow tubule
Papilloma are associated w/ the growth into lumen
Adenomas are glandular in nature
carcinoma malignant tumors of the epthileia that grow inwards
what is this
Basal Cell Carcinoma
