Q

How would you find the second moment of area of a body where the centroid doesn’t pass through the center of the local origin? Explain each part

A

Use the equations of;

Ix = I(bar)x’ + A (dy)^2
Iy = I(bar)y’ + A (dx)^2

Where I(bar) is the 2nd moment of area about its own centroid, A is the area, dx / dy are the distances across the corresponding axis.

How well did you know this?
