Lecture 7 Flashcards
What does a single-factor involve?
One treatment/independent variable. (Also written one-way)
F ratio is formed by dividing _____-____ variability by within-group variability.
Between-group
What does a within-subjects design entail?
Each subject received all treatments
What’s an advantage of within-subjects design?
A source of error is removed: individual differences between-groups. There can be no individual differences between groups when the same subjects are in each group.
What are problems with within-subjects design?
Drop out, and practise/order/carry-over effects.
Make sure that different subjects receive the treatments in different orders. This garantees that any order effect is at least _______ rather than _____, but it does not remove the overall problem.
Randomised; systematic.
