Article 17 of the International Convenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCP)
“No one shall be subjected to arbitrary or
unlawful interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to unlawful attacks on his honor and reputation.” everyone has the right to the protection of law against such interference or attacks.
data subject
the person whose data is used.
pseudonymisation
when personal information is made pseudomised data by using a key.
anonymisation
when personal information is converted to anonymised data, without a key. this is irreversible.
EU Digital Services Act 2020
its purpose is to update liability and safety rules for digital platforms. since August 2023 this applies for the Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs). as of February 2024, it applies to all online platforms.
illegal content
any information that, in itself or in relation to an activity, including the sale of products or provision of services, is not in compliance with EU law or the law of a member state.
EU investigation
the goal is to prevent disturbances for the EU elections in June. allegations are (1) providing deceptive advertisements and disinformation, (2) transparency concerns, and (3) no user-friendly means to flag illegal content.
