Q

Why are most cells small?

A

To allow for more surface area in order to absorb nutrients brought in for the growth of the cell. If the cell is small, it has a bigger surface area but a smaller volume to support therefore win win.
Essentially surface area > volume

Q

What surrounds cells? Why?

A

A layer of plasma. It contains the cell’s contents and acts as barrier, only allowing specific molecules to enter or leave. Also its very flexible
