Health to Gingivitis what would you see clinically?
The color becomes blue or red, the contour blunted, marginal tissue becomes roundish ( no scalloping)
Pyogenic Granuloma aka Solitary Capillary Haemangioma
painless, mushroom-like exophytic mass attached interproximally, benign
- Looks like abscess
- Seen in pregnant woman–will go away postpartum
Drug induced gingival enlargements
Whittish fibery rubberish enlargment of gingiva.
-no bone loss or attachment loss
Plaque induced gingivitis
bulbous, red, fluctuant (fluid-filled)
Diabetes associated gingivitis
Children with Type 1
Manage their glycemic control!
In KIDS WHO HAVE PLAQUE INDUCED TYPE 1 DIABETES ASSOC GINGIVITIS. THE TX INVOLVED IS
HAVING A BETTER GLYCEMIC CONTROL
Linear Gingival Erythema aka HIV ass. gingivitis
- 2-3mm marginal band of intense erythema in free gingiva
- Incidence reduced after anti-retroviral therapy
Hereditary gingival fibromatosis aka Gingival diseases ass. with heredity
-increase ratio of CT ( no increase in size or # of fibroblasts). Dense fibrotic CT and epithelial hyperplasia
