What are the main diagnostic criteria for GAD?
7 features
Excessive anxiety and worry for at least 6 months
Worry must be difficult to control
Must associated with one of the following:
Restlessness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability etc
Not attributable to any other substance or medical condition
Not better explained by another disorder
Clinically significant distress or impairment
What are the disorders in the classification for depressive disorders?
MDD, persistent depressive disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder and other
What are the disorders in the classification for anxiety disorders?
GAD, social anxiety, panic disorders, phobias etc.
What is disruptive mood dysregulation disorder?
a condition in which children or adolescents experience ongoing irritability, anger, and frequent, intense temper outbursts.
What are the two main diagnostic manuals we use?
The main diagnostic manuals are the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, which is mainly used in America but is the most popular diagnostic manual worldwide. There is also the International Classification of Diseases (the ICD), published by the world health organisation.
