Cell cycle phase specific meds
activity primarily in 1 phase of the cell cycle and agent needs to be available during that time to be active
give over long period of time (duration)
Cell cycle phase non-specific
activity is not dependent on the agent available during a certain phase of the cell cycle
may give over shorter period but may need higher amount (peak)
When thinking of blood tumors they tend to be….
rapidly growing and dividing

7 early detection of Disease: CAUTION
C = change in bowel or bladder habits
A = a sore tat doesnt heal
U = unusual bleeding or discharge
T = thickening or lump in breast/elsewhere
I = indigestion or difficulty swallowing
O = obvious change in wart or mole
N = nagging cough or hoarseness
Average risk for breast cancer
no personal Hx of breast cancer
no strong family hx of breast cancer
no genetic mutation known to inc risk of breast cancer
no chest radiation therapy before age 30 yrs old
Breast cancer screening guidelines
women btwn 40-44 have option to start screening with mammogram
women btwn 45-54 should get mammogram every year
women > 54 can do mammogram every other yr or continue yearly
palliative therapy
non-curative
attempts to prolong survival and comfort measures (if metastatic)
